New trends making a splash – The ‘smart’ pool.

It is now possible for your pool to be fully automated from anywhere at the swipe or touch of a button.

Smart phone apps exist to completely control spa jets, filtration, and fancy LED lighting. There are pools that will also integrate with your in-home personal assistant e.g google home, so it is not just the built-in surround sound that you can use to wow guests friends and family.

In contrast to advancements in modern technology to manage the functionality of pools, the design trend for pools has reverted to more traditional symmetrical shapes, such as rectangle and square pools. Freeform, swim-outs and glamorous swim bar features have fallen out of favour in preference to classic lines and simple beauty. Landscape designers also preference the more traditional shapes finding it easier to create modern designs around classic shapes.

In addition to this trend whist the ever popular sparkling blue pool remain a hit there is an increasing number of designs utilising dark lining finishes, whether by tiles or glass beads. Having a darker lined finish in not only a unique and aesthetic look, it also allows the pools to stay warmer for longer, as darker colours are great at absorbing and maintaining heat.
